Life has really been serene for us this summer. We did have the major bump last week but I think we are finally over it. Well, we were. I went to pick up our medication from the pharmacy yesterday and saw that Pearl got a medication that hasn't been prescribed to her. This is her reflux medication, which she is really sensitive to. I called the pharmacist this morning to find out what happened. I still don't know exactly who ordered the wrong one, but it turns out that TennCare denied Pearl's full dose for the right one. Why? Well, because it is August, of course. We go through this every year. TennCare has to approve the more expensive medications every year and they require Pearl to take a half dose (one instead of two) to prove that she needs the two. What business it is of the insurance to adjust her medication? Isn't that her doctor's job? And, by the way, no one changes her medication without consulting me first. Even her doctors. Period. So my serenity has been interrupted, be it ever so small a problem. It means that life isn't normal and that I have to engage the medical system all the time, whether I want to or not.
